West L.A. College CA sophomore Estrella Montiel placed second in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:08.21 at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational at UCLA's Drake Stadium. Montiel, who has signed with NAIA program Mid-America Nazarene, elevated to No. 4 in the state and 13th nationally this season among two-year college athletes in the 3,000 steeplechase.
